As leaked pictures of Samsung’s new Galaxy S6 start to appear the first questions about possible things the new device will include also started to emerge, one of them is about the Galaxy S6 IP Rating and if the Galaxy S6 will be water resistant or Waterproof.
The Galaxy S5 has an IP rating of IP67 which means it is completely dust-proof and can be submerged underwater up to 1 metre depth for 30 minutes. Samsung has used the IP rating on the S5 for their marketing campaign, advertising it as a “waterproof device” this lets us believe that Samsung will improve on the IP rating in future versions. For those wondering, here are the meaning of the numbers:
Will Samsung’s new Galaxy S6 Waterproof?
Definitely, yes. Samsung previously confirmed that the Galaxy S6 will be “unique and different” and the best Samsung smartphone yet. As far as IP rating goes, it is hard to say until Samsung officially reveals the device but it is safe to assume that it will feature at least an IP rating of IP67 like its younger brother the S5. IP67 means it is dust-proof and can be submerged underwater up to 1 metre depth for 30 minutes.
