Popular ecommerce website TigerDirect now officially accepts Bitcoins as payment method. More then 200.000 products available at TigerDirect can be purchased using Bitcoins. During the Checkout process you will be able to select “Bitcoin” as a payment method from now on and then proceed to scan the QR code with your smartphone in order to make the payment. Steven Leeds, director of Marketing at TigerDirect made the following statement:
“TigerDirect has always been on the forefront of alternative online payment methods and delivering the most convenient ways for our customers to shop, with individuals building their own high-powered PCs with parts offered on our site to mine bitcoins, it’s a logical fit.”
The transaction is done using BitPay, the same service used by game developer Zynga
The fact that they have started accepting Bitcoins currently makes it the biggest ecommerce store to do so, one of the main reasons they did is to promote Bitcoin related hardware which is needed to Mine bitcoins. TigerDirect is hoping to become the number 1 place to shop for hardware that can mine Bitcoins.
