Netflix is famous for its great diversity in movies and the fact that the service displays no ads during, before or after watching a show or movie but this could change soon. According to Cordcutternews Xbox One, Roku and Tivo users are seeings ads being displayed before a show starts and after it ends.
According to an official statement to CordCutterNews it is yet unknown if Netflix will permanently start displaying ads before and after movies or if it is just testing.
“We are always testing new things via the service, many of which never see a rollout. We have nothing more to add at this point.”
The ads seem to vary greatly between length and how they are displayed. Some users are reporting the ability to skip these ads while others aren’t, some ads are 20 seconds long others are 60 seconds long. The fact that Netflix has started publicly testing its new ad service, this means that we could very well see Netflix start showing ads soon.
Services like Hulu are already showing ads and charge a monthly subscription to use its service, users can remove the ads by purchasing a premium account which costs more then the standard subscription, we could see Netflix implement this too.
