Cyanogen recently announced that Cyanogenmod 12.1 was coming later this week to devices like the Nexus 6, Moto E, Moto G and many more. While some unofficial ports have been made available for the OnePlus One, the first Cyanogenmod 12.1 Moto E unofficial port has also just been released.
While the official CM 12.1 Moto E Nightly will become available later this week, if you really can’t wait you can follow the guide bellow to get the Android 5.1 based CM12.1 for the Moto E 2014

In order to get everything working you will need both the unofficial Nightly and GAPPS, bellow you can download both:

Install Cyanogenmod 12.1 Moto E (CM12.1)
Flashing the first time
If this is the first time you are flashing CM12.1, follow the steps bellow:
- Reboot your Moto E into recovery.
- Perform a full Factory Reset. (wipe data,cache and dalvik cache)
- Flash the zip
- Once it is done, reboot.
