Mobile is a key part for Youtube’s business as more then half of all minutes watched are from a mobile device. Now, Youtube is working on a brand new app that should improve the user experience significantly, specially after the many negative reviews the latest Youtube app received (mainly due to missing features)
It is yet unknown when Youtube will roll out the new redesign but it is expected to become available both on Android and iOS. Youtube is also working on a new desktop video player which according to sources is currently “being tested”

One of the main new features in the app is a new tab called “Trending” which allow you to get an overview of currently trending videos on youtube by region or worldwide. It is located on the bottom left of the display. Bellow is an image showing the new search function:
